When Jeep introduced the Gladiator pickup truck for 2020, fans were treated to a product for which they had been asking for ages. Another item on their wish list was checked off today, when Jeep officially announced the Gladiator will be available this fall with a torquey diesel engine.
How torquey? Try 442 lb.-ft. of twist, a sum that should be sufficient to haul Gladiator up and out of the toughest obstacles at Moab. Or at least, enough to dislodge the Oakleys off Chad’s head. This new EcoDiesel will be paired exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and will be — praise the pharaohs — offered across three trims: Sport, Overland, and Rubicon.
