Aston Martin is planning to build a new electric SUV and sports
car, perhaps tapping Mercedes-Benz for a suitable platform, the marque’s
chairman said early March.
Chair
Lawrence Stroll revealed Aston Martin would be releasing an all-electric sports
car as well as an electric SUV in an interview with The Financial Times. Stroll saved
Aston Martin from yet another
bankruptcy in 2020 after it ran into financial difficulty
(like, even before the pandemic).
Although
the brand had unveiled a battery-electric version of the Rapide in 2019, Aston
Martin has decided to go in a different direction for its electric models. It
also announced intentions to revive the Lagonda brand as a pure EV company in
2018, but it’s not clear if those plans have been shelved or not.
