Amazon's new delivery van is one of the cutest things poking up on
the automotive horizon. It's fully
electric, built to make delivery drivers' lives easier,
and is the spawn of a huge deal
between up-and-coming EV maker Rivian and Amazon. The Baby Yoda of delivery vehicles went into production
late last year, and Amazon is planning on having them on the road early in
2021. Thing is, we just didn't expect the wide-eyed vans to hit the
streets this early.
A video of one of Rivian's
vantastic creations was posted to YouTube less than two weeks after the start
of the year, and we're happy to see that Amazon, erm, delivered on its promise
to get the EVs out there on time. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to us that
the van you see in the video isn't quite the finished product, however, and
that it was just out for some early testing. While the vans are quite rare at
the moment, they'll soon be everywhere, just like Amazon's current fleet of
gas- and diesel-fueled delivery vans.
