The SUV now in development by famed British sports car builder and race car manufacturer Lotus will likely be all-electric and targeted largely at the Chinese market, according to new reports.

Lotus has always been infamous for losing money — after all, the new-car-buying public doesn’t care about nimble coupes and targas as much as enthusiasts would like to believe.

Most are just fine with their daily driver, and that’s all they need. Well, Lotus is about to offer something for those people, too.

The sport utility, codenamed “Lambda” for now, will use Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, according to Autocar, which will also underpin a few different models from the company’s other brands, including Lynk & Co., Polestar, Proton, and Volvo.
