It’s a radical new redesign, Hyundai’s 2022 Tucson. Where previous Hyundai compact sport-utes went for the soft and cuddly look, the new Tucson is all angles and bulges.

Hyundai calls the effect “Parametric Dynamic,” and even if that’s a trifle pretentious – the company also says it’s part of a “Sensuous Sportiness design identity” – the new Tucson is a radically different and distinctly attractive design from the normally conservative automaker.

As for dynamicism, the new Tucson is powered by a unique combination of engines. First up, there’s the conventional naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre Smartstream, its four direct-injected cylinders pumping out 190 horsepower and 182 foot-pounds of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic.
