Investors might not have been impressed with Elon Musk’s performance at yesterday’s Battery Day event, but for EV technologists there was plenty to unpack from a number of announcements made by the Tesla CEO. From bringing some of its battery production in-house to setting up a standalone cathode plant, and from moving away from the use of cobalt to creating ‘tabless’ batteries, it was all about making smaller, more efficient, more powerful, less expensive and environmentally friendlier battery packs.
